I saw this recipe at Places of My Heart a few weeks ago, and I immediately bookmarked it because it calls for on-hand ingredients and is super-easy to make. These sugar cookies are slightly different than traditional ones, having a shortbread-like taste. They are absolutely delicious!
Sugar Cookies
1 cup powdered sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup Wesson oil (I used canola)
2 eggs
1 t. vanilla
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 t. salt
1 t. baking soda
1 t. cream of tartar
3/4 cup sugar in separate bowl for coating dough
Beat sugars, butter, and oil with mixer. Add eggs and vanilla; beat until fluffy.
In a separate bowl, sift dry ingredients together, and add to sugar mixture. Blend well with mixer.
Next, you can either roll teaspoonfuls of dough into balls or simply spoon out a teaspoonful and roll in sugar. Place each dough portion onto ungreased cookie sheet and bake for about 7 minutes at 375 degrees.
**Do not allow cookies to brown. (You will think you are under-baking, but trust me!) They will firm up after being removed from oven. This allows for soft, chewy, melt-in-your-mouth sugar cookies!
Enjoy!

I looooove sugar cookies! This makes me want to pull out my spritz cookie recipe. It sounds a lot like this one, where they are sweet but not too sweet…VERY addicting! 😀

This is the same recipe that my MIL makes. My husband makes them every year for Christmas and there are people who get *very* upset if they don’t get some! And every time my girls take the snack for girl scouts, the girls in their troop ask for them. 🙂 We **love** these!
