I’m thinking that right now would be a great time for school to be in session for a week. Just a week. Just enough time for me to feel like a person again:) I’ve said it recently and will say it again, summer with three smallish children at home all day is not for the faint of heart. Next week contains a breather, so I’ll hang on til then!!
I’d love to say that every afternoon around 2, my children acknowledge that they know mama needs a break and that they would be glad to entertain themselves for the next 2 hours while I blog, return emails, and catch a quick nap. Hasn’t happened yet, thus why the number of blog posts lately is sucking wind!
Anyhoo, I have spent a little time here and there this week tinkering with some new photo collages and am trying them out today! Also, be sure to check out my new blog button in the the right sidebar! Love! Danielle Moss created it. She is very easy to work with and has really quick turnaround!
The month of June has been more hectic than I’d prefer, and I ended last week in the bed with fever, which I’m certain was a virus I contracted from being 100% worn out. Better now:) I caught up on about 16 episodes of Dateline NBC and 20/20…guilt-free.
Here are a few things we’ve been up to in June:
Our Cardinals made it to the championship! John David had the privilege of being a part of such a great group of boys and dads. The coaches really taught him the game of baseball, pushed the boys enough, yet the atmosphere remained positive and encouraging always. They ended their season 2nd place in their league and celebrated with a pool party, shown below.
The kids have played lots of kickball in the yard! These pictures below just crack me up. Lainey is serious about playing kickball. You can clearly see the progression of waiting, kicking, running to first base, getting in position to run again, and check it out…she is trying to steal second! Seriously, she was! Hysterical. Then running for her life to get back to home plate.
Maddie clearly is notsomuch about the game…but she does love to play. Come to think of it, she brings the drama and dance moves into just about everything we do…
John David and buddy Evan attended day camp out at Pinnacle Mountain State Park. A bit of a rough start for John David (now we know due to baseball night game fatigue) but he ended up having such a blast. Still talking about it. For a small fee, these boys did more cool activities in four days than we would have done in months…
Yesterday wasn’t hot enough to fry an egg on the sidewalk, so we went out to Pinnacle as a family after dinner. John David showed us a little secret about this cypress tree we have passed a million times before…you can actually get IN it! (lovin’ the picture collage for these shots!!)
David and John David threw the ball while the girls played on the playground
This one turned out sweet…I was attempting to get a shot for a certain large frame, and David assured me my techniques of getting them to “do right” would never land me a job at Olan Mills.
And of course we’ve made lots and lots of trips to the pool. Thankfully it is up the street. Moms of small kids, you know it’s like an act of Congress to pack, load, and get to the pool in one piece. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, though. Lainey will be the magic swimming age of 4 by next summer.
Hope you are enjoying your summer!

Let me tell you from experience…you need to enjoy every minute with your kids. They grow up so fast and are gone before you know it. I would love to go back and have just one summer day with my kids when they were young. They are now 25 and 28. They are great adults and loads of fun…but they don’t live with me anymore! I guess that’s a good thing?

Love your collages-what program did you use?
I know it’s hard, cuz I did it too (have 3 smallish kids at home), but I’m with Ann-try to live in the moment with your punkins. Ask God for the grace to enjoy your time with them. All too soon they’ll be out of college, married, and living 3 hours away. *sniff*
