Valentine’s is past, but perhaps you will be inspired by this idea, Pin It to your Valentine’s board, and create your own “Red” Valentine’s Dinner next year!
If you are a mom of multiple small children like me, you know that Valentine’s looks vastly different than it did in years past…is that an understatement or what? Especially when it lands on a Tuesday night:)!
Knowing that we would not be hitting the town for a romantic dinner, I decided to make Valentine’s a fun, special night for all of us. “Red” was the theme, and there are many “red” foods to choose from to pull together a delicious meal!
Tablecloth, red candles and charger plates from Christmas, and a few other red accents decorated the table.
I remembered these fabulous red stems from David’s grandmother that were tucked away, having never been used. Aren’t they wonderful! The thought of these glasses adorning her Christmas table decades ago makes me smile.
Red Sparkling Grape Juice for the kids!
The real stuff for us:)
Red jello for dessert. Another great idea is chocolate covered strawberries. I was going for simple, so jello it was. David said he hadn’t had jello since the last time he had the stomach virus. Good memories while we ate jello.
Our favorite spaghetti for dinner.
I think overall, the kids loved having a special dinner to look forward to, and my wheels are turning thinking of other meal themes to surprise them with! Don’t be fooled, it was still our typical, chaotic mealtime with kids, but it was fun. Really fun.
Do you have any family Valentine’s traditions with your kids? I think we’ll keep this one!
Have a great rest of the week.
