Folded Birch Planter–The Everyday Gardener

I snapped this picture of our zinnia bed yesterday after the long-awaited rain!  These guys are hanging on for dear life after a record-hot summer!  I love that although there is chaos, perfectly-formed blooms still peek through.  Kind of like our own lives at times…
We started with zinnia seeds at the beginning of the summer, and I just let the kids throw them into the bed and we loosely covered them with soil.  Little work for a great reward!!
I’ve brought zinnia stems inside for the last six weeks, and they continue to bloom and bloom even after cutting!
LOVE the variety!
These are set into one of my all-time favorite containers, the “birch folder” from the fabulous store, The Everyday Gardener, in Jackson, Mississippi.
Perfect for live stems or you can fill with green moss and artificial seasonal stems!
Six glass tubes are nestled into the birch planter for live stems.  A few sprigs from my asparagus fern act as filler.
Our fresh kitchen table centerpiece for the next few days!

The Everyday Gardener keeps the birch folders in stock regularly, and they come in 3 sizes.  Two rectangular sizes (9×6″ and 6×4.5″) like the one shown and a round one that is 5.5×8″.

Be sure to call The Everyday Gardener (601-981-0273) if you are interested in one of these unique, versatile containers as a gift or for yourself!  They ship!
