Part of my heart lies just behind the glass. The hours…the many, many hours a little boy with a vibrant imagination can play Thomas the Tank is seemingly endless. Perhaps you have known a Thomas the Tank-lover.
We started our son’s Thomas the Tank collection when he was two years old, clearly one of the best investments we ever made, not to mention making gift-giving to John David over the years super easy!
One particular piece John David received one Christmas is this personalized piece of track from his aunt and uncle! I love this gift!! It came from FAO Schwarz in New York City, although I cannot find a link anywhere to purchase more. If you know of one, please share in the comments!
Like these Framed Baby Bibs, this framed keepsake has its own story to tell…one of a happy, content, and meticulous little boy who painstakingly imagined, created, and dreamed while he rolled the trains across the tracks.

Oh, this is so sweet! What a great idea for holding onto some of the most special toys. My son is 4 and has decided he’s too big for Thomas…sniff sniff. I would love for you to share this here:

This seriously made me want to cry thinking about my own sweet boy when he used to live and breath all things “train”! Sigh…this is truly a wonderful idea and we will be featuring it this week at Inspiration Friday! 🙂

My nearly 3 year old son is obsessed with Thomas as well, and should the opportunity arise, I highly recommend “Day Out with Thomas”. We just did the one in Strasburg, PA (Amish country) at the Strasburg RR, but there are Day Out With Thomas events all over the country. My son absolutely flipped over getting to see (and ride behind) a full size Thomas engine.
They had laser engraved track pieces for sale at their Thomas store, and it’s a permanent fixture at the shop (not just available during the events). I’d check your area to see if there are any tourist type railroads and if they have a gift shop. You may be able to find something there. I’d also recommend checking etsy. Even if there’s not one for sale, if you check with an artist that does laser cutting on wood, you can probably request a custom piece.

How did you make the framed maps.

Hi, sorry for the delay in responding! I’m assuming you are referring to the hanging state maps? Here is the link to the tutorial. A very easy project! Thanks for stopping by. Amanda

This made my heart skip a beat. And my Thomas lover isn’t so little anymore. He’s heading toward 20, away at college, with his trains tucked away ala Toy Story. I WILL be framing that tank engine. Did you ever find a link to get the personalized track?
