If you have been around these parts for any length of time, you may be wondering where the old blog went! It’s still here, and I’m still here!
If you are new here, welcome!
So why the name change and brand new look?
It’s simple, really. The blog started officially in August of 2008 on a whim as a means to stay in touch with out-of-state family and friends. It quickly became a hobby and a simple way to record our lives. I have been known to wallow in unprecedented guilt over unfinished, traditional paper scrapbooks. Enter blogging. Where have you been all my life?
So I blogged here and there for a couple of years, chiefly about my kids and family activities. It was terribly boring unless you were my mother. Even the name was boring…Days at the Browns. Yeah, I know.
Around the same time blogging was becoming a true hobby for me, feedback began trickling in…from friends and strangers alike. I began to take blogging a bit more seriously by connecting with other bloggers in my niche and scouring the internet for blogging tips and ideas.
Long-closed-up places in my soul were opening through the simple act of blogging. My Heart’s Desire became a life-giving place to be creative and purposeful outside my main role as wife and mom.
So as the blog continued to grow and evolve, I desired the blog to be an authentic, personal, and more navigable place on the web. And as for the new name…well, it’s mine. The first two names given to me at birth that are still very much a part of who I am. Only a few special people still call me Amanda Jane, but perhaps that will soon change;) Many thanks to Lauren at MercyINK Designs for her time, patience, and long-suffering to make sure AmandaJaneBrown (the real person and the blog) survived!
So pull up a chair, and we’ll talk about affordable ways to create memories using simple seasonal décor, everyday recipes, and family traditions. Living intentionally in the little–and big–stuff. Real-life stories of following Jesus from a far-from-perfect perspective.
Lest you think my home and my life are perfect, let’s get that out of the way up front. It’s not. Remember that the photos on a blog are finished products and that the blogger behind them is just like you. My desire is for AmandaJaneBrown.com to be a fun, safe place for you to draw inspiration for your home…and your heart.
I would be so grateful to you for sharing the new site, AmandaJaneBrown.com with your friends! One of the downsides of moving to a new online is losing readers, no matter how hard to try to prevent it. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
