Tuesdays Unwrapped-Celebrating the Small Things

On Tuesdays, I don’t have to leave the house if I choose not to.  This morning, I felt that all-too-familiar December anxiety rising in my throat as I pondered all there is to accomplish in the next few short weeks.  As I started a video for Lainey in hopes that she would stayed glued to the tv for 4 straight hours, I felt overwhelmed, not even knowing where to start.  Reluctantly, I opened my journal.  What began pouring out onto the pages was raw emotion regarding a hurting child, unbought Christmas presents, the blog, a dirty house, unfinished decorating, and guilt over Christmas feeling hectic, not holy.

As I pulled away from the middle school this morning, racing thoughts of how I could “fix” what hurts my child, or what I should tackle first back at home, I was startled by the simple reminder the Holy Spirit gave me…talk to Him.  Just talk to Him.  Then I ran across this verse from Colossians…”Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.”  Talk to Him.  Wait and watch to see what He does.  Thank Him for it.  So simple, yet so profound to me this regular, rainy Tuesday morning in December.

So even though today I will work to cross things off the to-do list, my heart rests knowing that God is bigger than the things that hurt my child, Pinterest blocking 1000’s of blog pins, bathrooms that smell like the zoo, and self-imposed Christmas guilt.

Like always, it’s the simple things of the season that bring the most joy…

    • Hello! Wow, thank you for your sweet words. Sometimes when we put ourselves “out there,” it feels so vulnerable and you want to go back and delete it. I’m glad I didn’t:)

  4. I’m new to your blog so I’m unsure what is hurting to your child..? But yes, talk to him. Pour it out on the throne of grace.
