Valentine’s + Pink Burlap = Love! I’ve been waiting for a reason to use pink burlap, and since I so loved the rag wreaths I made last year…one for a Summer Mantel and one for School Spirit…I knew a pink heart would provide a sweet touch to the mantel or any spot in our den.
Supplies Needed:
2 yards pink burlap (This is likely more than you need. Bought mine HERE. Google for Free shipping coupons)
1 wire heart form (Joann or Hobby Lobby)
Scissors
Measuring Tape
Invisible fishing line or other ribbon for hanging (optional)
Sadly, I did not take photos of the process. It was a late-night project:). BUT never fear, you can see the step-by-step instructions with photos HERE from the Burlap Rag Wreath from last year. Nevertheless, here are the detailed instructions for this adorable Burlap Heart Rag Wreath:
1. Cut 10″ x 1.5″ (roughly) strips of burlap. Even though you will cut away excess after the wreath is complete, I found that strips less than 10 inches fray and risk becoming too short too quickly.
2. On inside rung of heart, begin tying each strip onto the wire with a simple knot. Continue along the inside rung, sliding each knot down, fitting as many as possible! Repeat on outside rung of heart until full.
3. Tie fishing line or ribbon onto wreath for hanging, if desired. Wreath can also be hung directly onto a nail.
4. Hang your burlap heart. If it is anything like mine at this point, it resembles a sad blob of a heart with crazy hair. Grab your scissors and slowly begin to give her a “trim.” Cut away small pieces at a time…you can always cut more, but never the other way around! Trim until you are satisfied with the shape of your heart, fluff her up, and enjoy!
